The Broad itself is closed to navigation and is a nature preservation area.
Follow the boardwalk on the Woodbastwick side of the River Bure opposite The Ferry Inn at Horning and at the edge of Woodbastwick Marshes you will find Cockshoot Broad. The Broad is no longer navigable and has seen a long running project to restore the water quality and wildlife.
White and yellow flowered waterlilys now grow in the clear water which has been returned to how it would have looked 100 years ago. Damselflies can be seen resting on the lillies along with an abundance of other insects and birds including the swallowtail butterfly.
